MPs presented on vacant posts in parliament approved

Members of Parliament, who were presented on vacant posts in the parliament of the 9th convocation, have been approved. The voting over staff changes was held during the plenary session boycotted by the parliamentary opposition.

Giorgi Volski was elected as First Vice-Speaker. Mamuka Mdinaradze will become Leader of the Parliamentary Majority and Vice Speaker. Giorgi Kakhiani and Kakha Kuchava will also serve as Vice Speakers in the parliament.

Irakli Beraia was elected on the post of Chairman of the Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee. Davit Songhulashvili will head Euro-Atlantic Integration Committee, Nino Tsilosani – Environment Protection Committee.

Gennady Margvelashvili will be the new chairperson of Education Committee, Guram Macharashvili – Chairman of Procedural Issues Committee.

The parliamentary posts became vacant after 12 majority MPs quit their parliamentary positions and seats following the parliament’s turning down of constitutional changes regarding transformation onto the proportional system of elections for 2020 parliamentary polls in Georgia.
