Tbilisi Mayor sees bullying and insults against successful people as categorically unacceptable

Targeted bullying, insults, and violence against successful people are condemnable and categorically unacceptable, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze told journalists.

Kaladze highlighted the importance of standing against radicalism and referred to the victory over fascism on May 9 as an example of how society can overcome extremism and negativity.

“We have seen statements made towards Khvicha Kvaratskhelia [Georgian football player] and the inappropriate attitude directed towards him.

Khvicha is a source of pride for us, one of the best football players and a rising star. The kind of approach where people are deemed traitors or enemies if they don’t share the same opinion is absurd and unacceptable. Such attitudes have nothing to do with European values or democracy. They represent ordinary fascism.

Just as there was a victory over fascism on May 9, we must also overcome radicalism and the negativity we have been witnessing in recent days and months,” Kaladze said.
