MEP Viola von Cramon says ex-President Saakashvili to be constructive, not meddling

European Parliament member Viola von Cramon thinks former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili should not meddle in the current political process in Georgia.

MEP says he should be silent or constructive. She believes Saakashvili’s continuous interference and comments could not help the country.

“I have met Misha at some point couple of years ago and I thought he is a reasonable politician. I mean he knows that he is now an exile, he cannot really have a say. On the other hand, if he has an interest in the well-being of his fellow citizens in Georgia, he should rather be constructive but with his comments, and with his continuous interference, he is not helping this country and that is what makes me sad, what disappoints me personally. So I have nothing against Misha,” she added.

Earlier, MEP Viola von Cramon said ruling Georgian Dream party founder Bidzina Ivanishvili and former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili “should stop any further interference”.

Saakashvili, who is currently a citizen of Ukraine and chairs the Ukrainian National Reforms Council, responded to this statement and said, “anyone who says that Saakashvili should abandon influence and withdraw from power is immoral and idiot.
