Ketevan Tsikhelashvili: Russian propaganda is a powerfully financed machine that penetrated into all democratic states

Three journalists, who had violated the law on occupation, and now failed to enter Georgia, was a very adequate measure taken by the MIA, – Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality told the First Channel.

According to her, the visit of the journalists was not agreed with any state structure and therefore she can’t speak about details.

In addition, Ketevan Tsikhelashvili noted that Russia is trying to use so-called soft power tools and not only on the occupied territories.

“20% of Georgian territory is occupied by Russia and Russia carries out power politics.  It is very difficult to generate pro-Russian segments here. I do not mean specific regions, but I mean Georgian society as a whole.

The best form and formula for dealing with it is the dissemination of objective information. No better formulas have been invented by the countries of Western Europe. Unfortunately, Russian propaganda is a powerfully financed machine that penetrated into all democratic states. 10 years ago no one could imagine that the main topic of discussion could be the possible intervention of Russia in the internal processes of the leading democracies. This is reality today.

We and our partners think and work over these topics. We are working on how to neutralize the threats and take active steps. We are a democratic state and we have an adequate response to the violations, ” – said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.

Yesterday, three Russian journalists were refused to enter Georgia due to violation of Law on Occupation.
