Ketevan Tsikhelashvili – Criminal Case will be opened on fact of Georgian citizen’s death in Gali

Co-Chairmen of Geneva internationally mediated talks will discuss the issue of death of Georgian citizen Irakli Kvaratskhelia in Gali – Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality said. The talks will take place in Sokhumi, occupied Abkhazia region.

According to State Minister, it is important to determine the exact and objective circumstances of Georgian citizen’s death. “A criminal case will be opened and the case will be given a corresponding qualification,” Tsikhelashvili stated.

Irakli Kvaratskhelia, 29, committed suicide after he was detained by the de-facto Abkhazian authorities. The information about the suicide was released yesterday by the State Security Service of Georgia.

“According to the information provided by de-facto Abkhazian authorities through the EUMM-managed Hotline, citizen of Georgia Irakli Kvaratskhelia (DoB 1990), who is a native of occupied Gali district, has committed suicide. According to the same information, Irakli Kvaratskhelia was detained by de-facto authorities,” State Security Service reported.

The State Security Service of Georgia is conducting activities aimed at identification of the objective circumstances related to the death of the mentioned person through all available instruments.
