We suggested to members in opposition parties to launch the proportional system from 2020, but they denied it. Now the topic is closed,- Irakli Kobakhidze, the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia said today.

Irakli Kobakhidze also expressed his position towards opposition plans regarding the one million signature.

“We had some kind of referendum after the constitutional reform was completed. Since then, the municipal elections were held. The municipal elections were called precisely the constitutional referendum by the opposition.

In this referendum, the people expressed their strong support to the “Georgian Dream”. We have very strongly won the municipal elections,”- said the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia.

The 21 opposition parties today demanded that the next parliamentary elections should be held through the proportional system.
