European Council President to arrive in Georgia

Charles Michel, President of the European Council, will arrive in Georgia on Tuesday. Charles Michel announced his visit while virtually attending the EU-backed deal signing ceremony at the Orbeliani Presidential Palace.

“I have the pleasure to announce that I will come to Georgia tomorrow to meet all of you to express the signal of confidence and discuss how to take more steps together to strengthen the ties between Georgia and the EU,” Charles Michel stated.

The Georgian political parties signed a compromise agreement, A Way Ahead for Georgia, submitted to the parties by the European Council President Charles Michel, at the Orbeliani Palace on April 19.

President Michel presented a new document to the political parties on April 18. According to a new document, if the ruling party wins less than 43 per cent of electoral support in local polls, early parliamentary elections will be called in 2022. Also, within two weeks following signing the agreement, the sides have to discuss politically motivated cases.
