Zurabashvili to remain First Deputy Foreign Minister alongside new Russia envoy role, says PM Kobakhidze
“Giorgi Zurabashvili will continue to serve as First Deputy Foreign Minister,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told a briefing at the Government Administration.
Kobakhidze said the government consulted Zurabashvili on the matter, and at his request, he will continue as First Deputy Minister alongside his new role.
“We consulted Zurabashvili on this, and he asked to continue serving as First Deputy Minister at the same time. We agreed to his request, so Zurabashvili will continue as First Deputy Foreign Minister. As for relations with Russia, he will represent us there in his capacity as the Prime Minister’s Special Representative for relations with Russia,” the Prime Minister said.
Zurabashvili was appointed today as the Prime Minister’s Special Representative for relations with Russia.
