The Constitutional Court has rejected the United National Movement’s motion to have Mikheil Saakashvili and Levan Khabeishvili attend the hearing.

Constitutional Court President Revaz Nadaraia said the court sees no need for the two men to appear.

“The Plenum of the Constitutional Court, having deliberated on the spot, rules that the United National Movement’s motion, with the evidence it cited, is not granted. It is unclear, indeed entirely incomprehensible, what facts relevant to this lawsuit the evidence Ana Tsitlidze referred to is supposed to help the court establish. We could see no connection with the case under consideration, even in theory. The motion is therefore rejected,” Nadaraia said.

The Constitutional Court has begun a substantive hearing on the lawsuit seeking to declare the activities of five political parties unconstitutional and to ban them.

At the same hearing, the United National Movement asked the court to call Mikheil Saakashvili and Levan Khabeishvili to testify as witnesses.
