Wind damage recovery operations continue in Batumi

Clean-up operations are continuing throughout the day in the Georgian Black Sea resort city of Batumi following severe wind damage, local authorities report.

According to Batumi City Hall, no new incidents were reported overnight, while recovery work from the windstorm will continue throughout Sunday.

The severe winds caused a construction structure to collapse near Piazza Square, injuring two people.

one woman is well enough to return home today, while the second victim remains in stable condition with no threat to life.

Power has been fully restored across the city after the storm damaged high-voltage transmission lines, leaving parts of Batumi without electricity.
