“The Republic of Serbia recognizes Georgia’s achievements. Since 2012, Georgia has demonstrated amazing results,” said President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić during the joint press conference with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

According to the President of Serbia, everyone in Serbia knows that Georgia’s economic growth in Quarter I was 9.3%; there is no such result in Europe, and that is why Serbia is learning from Georgia.

“Besides diplomatic ties, our countries have special relations. I am the first President of Serbia who arrived in our country, and I am grateful for such hospitality. Thank you for such relationships. We see Georgia not as a friend country and the nation, but as a country with long Orthodox traditions, and I am happy that I had the opportunity to meet and communicate with Patriarch Shio III. Our brotherly Orthodox relationship is special.

I also understand how far-reaching your vision is for the future. We are friends, and we always respect each other. We had meetings and other events where we interact very warmly. We always understand each other and the policies that we implement in our countries.

I am proud of the results in Serbia, and I am proud of what you have achieved. Since 2012, Georgia has demonstrated amazing results. I speak on behalf of Serbia. The Republic of Serbia recognizes your achievements. Some people perceive this as something that should have happened by itself, but we do not think so. Everyone in Serbia knows that Georgia’s economic growth in Quarter I was 9.3%; there is no such result in Europe, and we are proud of your results. When the first quarter is summed up, we will also see how your economy increased. We see Georgia’s progress and the pace of Georgia’s development.

In the West, we say that if Western Europe had such a trend, if there was such a pace of economic development, it would be amazing. I am proud of what is happening in Georgia; I am very happy about your achievements, and I learn a lot from you. The increase of 12 per cent in the construction sector is also amazing, as well as the high tourism growth. We see where we can learn from you and where we have to work harder in Serbia to get closer to your results,” he said.
