Wess Mitchell – US to increase military aid to Georgia and Ukraine

The US will increase military aid to Georgia and Ukraine — Wess Mitchell, US Assistant Secretary of State said during his speech at the sitting of Foreign Relations Committee of US Senate.

Mitchell said that with the aid Georgia and Ukraine would be able to resist to Russia. “Russia was recently threatening Georgia and Ukraine with use of force. We will increase supplying these countries with military equipment necessary for their self-defence. We lifted limitations imposed by the previous government on provision of weapons, we will help both countries to increase their defence potential,” Mitchell stated.

US Assistant Secretary of State also talked about Trump Administration’s aid to Europe. He said that President Donald Trump promised about protection of European Security during his 2017 Warsaw visit. Mitchell underlined that US was demonstrating its being the European ally with commitment to the 5th article of NATO on collective defence.

Mitchell talked about US policy towards Russia and repeated words of US Secretary of State that “Mild Policy” toward Russia had ended. He claimed that Washington was ready for a dialog with Russia if Moscow stopped aggressive policy.
