“These days have demonstrated that over a million people have expressed respect, love, compassion, and heartfelt sympathy for the Patriarch. Not only Christians, but also representatives of other faiths, have come together to share their grief,” said Gia Volski, First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament.

He emphasised that “this was a clear manifestation of the attitude of Georgian society towards its own church and history.”

“This reflects the profound intellect of our people, rooted in our rich historical heritage. It also highlights the values conveyed by the Patriarch: tolerance, love of country, patriotism, respect for family sanctities, and many other principles that Georgia has upheld to this day. Our society has preserved this high level of knowledge, intellect, and attitude. The silence of many was a sign of humility and reverence, a bowing of the knee in recognition of the situation we faced and the collective feelings we shared. This sense of sorrow and pain united us all. We experienced these days together,” Gia Volski added.
