Vice Speaker Volski: Opposition is competing with one another over who can do Georgia most harm

“Within the opposition, they are competing over who is capable of doing Georgia the greater damage. These people are bent on the destruction of the country, and they no longer even attempt to conceal it,” declared First Vice Speaker of Parliament Gia Volski when speaking about the so-called “opposition alliance.”

He added that door-to-door canvassing is an accepted practice in politics, but that the opposition lacks the resources to make anything of it.

“There will be infighting within the opposition, because their ranks contain no one capable of standing together. One cause of their internal strife is the question of leadership. Each of them wants to show their benefactors that they are the most effective, the most deserving of funding, the most worthy of support. Preening and posturing before one’s patrons is par for the course with this lot. These people are a collective ‘National Movement.’ The squabbling amongst them reflects their character, but changes nothing of substance. Who can do Georgia the greater harm? That is the question over which they are competing. Door-to-door canvassing is an accepted political practice, but they lack the resources to do it effectively. Going door to door, they will not convince anyone that Georgia ought to be engulfed in flames and that destabilisation is the right course. These people are dedicated to the task of destroying the country, and they no longer make any secret of it. They and their benefactors call at one moment for economic sanctions, and at the next speak of dragging Georgia into confrontation with Russia. These people are small pawns shuffling from chair to chair, chattering away in parks and on street corners. The plain fact is that this crowd is a band of wreckers who dress up their activities as grassroots canvassing,” Volski declared.
