“Society observes as dozens of individuals block Rustaveli Avenue, causing distress to thousands of residents of Tbilisi,” stated Vice-Speaker Nino Tsilosani.

According to Tsilosani, the government cannot remain indifferent in the face of such actions.

“It is evident that every day, a small group, often fewer than one hundred people, gathers to block Rustaveli Avenue, inconveniencing thousands of Tbilisians and obstructing their freedom of movement. It is inconceivable that the authorities would remain passive and fail to respond.

Order must be restored in this country once and for all. Such situations are unheard of in any civilised nation. While blocking major roads may be understandable when large crowds gather for legitimate protests, deliberately doing so to cause discomfort or to push a malicious narrative cannot be tolerated. Such actions do not represent genuine freedom of expression nor acceptable forms of activism,” she concluded.
