Vice Speaker Tsilosani: Saakashvili’s IRI post is evidence for the party ban, showing opposition takes orders from abroad
“It is a fact that Mikheil Saakashvili is controlled not by the Georgian people but by foreign masters, and this has been confirmed once again,” said Nino Tsilosani, Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
She said Saakashvili is making a feeble attempt to remain at the centre of the radicals.
“I think Mikheil Saakashvili should write a lot more and make many more statements, because every one of them helps the court case we have brought over their unconstitutionality. It is a fact that they are controlled from abroad and take their instructions from abroad. Apparently, they are supposed to unite around Mikheil Saakashvili, and IRI is pushing the opposition parties to do so. This is one of the charges we have brought against them, and one of the pieces of evidence for which these very political parties should be banned.
We also see Mikheil Saakashvili’s feeble attempt to remain at the centre of these radicals. Each of his statements answers a question we sometimes get from the public: why don’t you get tired of mentioning the National Movement? Because the National Movement itself, led by its most aggressive and criminal leader, will not leave the Georgian state alone. Saakashvili certainly had, and still has, support from some foreign politicians. Without that support, they could not have stayed in power, and Georgian society would have shown them the door much sooner. Unfortunately, he has that support. But there are different currents among foreign forces, and some can see that Saakashvili is already a spent force. This may be an attempt to bring him back, because there is no leader left in the opposition field, which has already been reduced to zero. Perhaps, to them, Saakashvili, whom they consider mad, is the only one capable of leading revolutionary processes. Perhaps the foreign masters realise that neither Saakashvili nor the leaders of his offshoot parties will manage to deceive the Georgian people,” Tsilosani said.
Former President Mikheil Saakashvili wrote on social media: “At a conference organised by IRI (the International Republican Institute) in Lithuania, American and European experts and politicians told representatives of opposition parties that their only chance was to unite with me. In response, these opposition figures shot themselves in the foot, saying: ‘We don’t want to be with Misha, our supporters don’t want it, and Misha wrecks unity.’”
