MP Ionatamishvili: Party ban hearing is exposing the “foreign-agent opposition”, which is effectively confessing
“The foreign-agent opposition is being exposed at the Constitutional Court, because they are in effect giving confessions,” MP Rati Ionatamishvili, chair of Parliament’s Human Rights Committee, told Georgian Public Broadcaster’s First Channel.
He said the public, transparent proceedings of the past two days are reinforcing the points the claimant put before the Constitutional Court.
“If anyone still doubted that they are out of their depth, this process has shown exactly that: on top of everything else, they are badly lacking in intellectual capacity. At the same time, the public sees their every statement backfire on them. That makes it all the more interesting, because they are admitting why they are an anti-constitutional, anti-state force. This has further strengthened the grounds on which we turned to the Constitutional Court at the people’s behest. Of course, we are confident our decision was right. The rest is up to the Constitutional Court. We believe that the public, transparent proceedings over these two days are further reinforcing and substantiating the points we put before the Constitutional Court,” Ionatamishvili said.
