Vice Speaker Tsilosani highlights business sector’s recognition of need for change, reaffirms government’s non-intervention stance
“The initiative led by the Prime Minister of Georgia, alongside the work of the parliamentary commission, has convinced the business sector that the core issue lies in their approach and standards,” stated Nino Tsilosani, Vice Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia.
According to Tsilosani, it has been repeatedly emphasised that the government does not intend to interfere in business affairs.
“We, in collaboration and open communication with the business community, welcome the decision announced by representatives of retail chains. This is arguably the best course of action that can yield immediate results. We recognise that businesses are prepared to sell essential consumer products at different profit margins or markups. This reflects their high standard of social responsibility. I thank them for their clear-sighted perspective on this matter and for their proactive response. All of this should serve as a foundation for greater responsibility from all parties involved. Wherever our involvement is needed, work in this direction will continue without pause,” Tsilosani affirmed.
