Vice Speaker Tsilosani: : Georgia will once again speak up in EU if Union remains fair
“I would not be as desperate or disappointed as the German ambassador. We know very well that, given the time and bureaucracy, decisions and policy steps can change for the better,” said Nino Tsilosani, Vice Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia.
Tsilosani responded to German Ambassador Peter Fischer’s interview with Radio Liberty, in which he stated that “most likely, at the December European Council, when heads of state and government meet, the Georgia file will be closed.”
“Georgia is currently the target of a deliberate campaign of pressure and blackmail. We have not complied with some of these completely unreasonable demands, including the call to repeal the Family Values Law.
The German ambassador’s statement is part of this ongoing pressure and appears intended to shape public perception in Georgia. Nevertheless, Georgia remains a leading country—not only among EU candidate states but also in comparison with some current member states. Georgia will once again speak up within the European Union if the EU is genuinely committed to being strong and objectively fair,” Tsilosani added.
