Vice Speaker: PM’s letter to U.S. leadership affirms Georgia’s loyalty, calls for fairness in response

“Irakli Kobakhidze’s open letter to the President of the United States publicly affirms Georgia’s steadfast loyalty as a partner of the U.S., while also calling for a fair and just approach,” Nino Tsilosani, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, emphasised.

According to Tsilosani, the letter vividly underscores Georgia’s desire to restore and normalise the vital strategic partnership that has existed between Georgia and the United States for decades.

“At the same time, the letter openly acknowledges the challenges and issues within our relations,” Tsilosani stated. “The expressions of injustice toward Georgia, such as the recent developments, are clearly articulated. I am referring to the act, ironically named the MEGOBARI Act, which is imbued with malicious sentiments and was unfortunately adopted by the U.S. Congress. The letter also reveals a desire to overcome the influences that steer certain political processes. Unfortunately, the steps taken by the Biden administration, which have caused harm and injustice, have yet to be rectified in this context. Therefore, this open letter serves once again as a loud public statement: Georgia remains a loyal partner of the United States, but we also expect a fair and equitable attitude.”

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze addressed an open letter to Donald Trump and J.D. Vance, reaffirming Georgia’s commitment and calling for balanced relations rooted in mutual respect.
