Vice PM Mdinaradze claims critics who ignore Georgia’s past occupation to focus on foreign conflicts “are acting on orders”

“We are talking about people who felt no outrage over the occupation of their own homeland and the slaughter of their own people, yet expressed outrage over the occupation of another’s homeland, an attack on another’s homeland,” Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development Mamuka Mdinaradze told journalists.

He added that these people are merely carrying out orders.

“We are talking about people who felt no outrage over the occupation of their own homeland and the slaughter of their own people, yet expressed outrage over the occupation of another’s homeland, an attack on another’s homeland. How artificial this is, and how much it forms part of an assigned task, stems directly from this. If an enemy, an occupier, were to storm someone’s own home and they felt no outrage over that, but then displayed immense anger and emotion over a break-in at someone else’s home; they are in precisely that same situation. Frankly, these people are almost to be pitied for one overriding reason: in this instance, they are merely executing instructions to be outraged now, whereas back then they were not supposed to be. That is the difference,” noted Mamuka Mdinaradze.
