UNM’s Ana Tsitlidze: If UNM is banned, I will be banned; I have seen Zurab Adeishvili only once; how can you ban me from political activity because of his actions?

“The constitutional lawsuit mentions Zurab Adeishvili 25 times. The plaintiff attempts to use this individual and his activities to declare the UNM unconstitutional and as grounds to ban it. This argument leads to a grave legal and logical paradox,” said Ana Tsitlidze, a member of the United National Movement (UNM) party in the Constitutional Court.

According to Tsitlidze, it is interesting to know who Zurab Adeishvili’s closest staff allies were.

“If the court decides to ban the UNM, then I should also be banned. I have seen Zurab Adeishvili only once. However, this does not mean that I distance myself from him in anything. It is interesting to know who Zurab Adeishvili’s closest staff allies were who managed the processes that are assessed as a crime in the lawsuit.

Mr Vasil Roinishvili is the judge of the same court who served as Zurab Adeishvili’s closest staff ally for years. He was deputy chief prosecutor and one of the key figures of the system, someone in whom Zurab Adeishvili placed great hopes. This raises the question: what legal logic could possibly justify prohibiting someone from engaging in political activity solely because they once met Zurab Adeishvili based on the actions he committed, or ban the party while the minister’s closest staff ally sits in this same chamber and administers constitutional justice,” she said.
