Vasil Maglaperidze: GPB First Channel-Teleskola significantly contributed to education system functioning during pandemic
“GPB First Channel-Teleskola made a significant contribution to the functioning of the education system during the pandemic, in 2021, Chairman of the GPB Board of Trustees, Vasil Maglaperidze, told MPs on Wednesday.
Alluding to the role of Teleskola, Maglaperidze said, in the wake of hybrid teaching, besides tele-lessons, Teleskola provided learning resources, as well.
In his report presentation to the Parliament on Public Broadcaster’s work, Maglaperidze mentioned the study carried out with the support of the National Statistics Service of Georgia and UNICEF, suggesting that during the first wave of the pandemic, 55 per cent of the respondents from the cities listened/watched Teleskola, while rural residents accounted for 60.7 per cent.
For the record, in 2020, Georgian Education Ministry, in cooperation with GPB First Channel, and with an active involvement of the Chairman of the Education Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, launched an educational project ‘Teleskola.’
The project envisages the execution of tele-lessons provided by the national curriculum and is one of the formats for distance learning enabling all students, regardless of whether they have access to the Internet, to find interesting and cognitive lessons across all subjects.
