GPB Board of Trustees Chair: We will reach optimal funding model which doesn't affect broadcaster's independence

“The work on GPB’s funding model will continue to create a version that meets TV’s needs without affecting its independence,” said the Chairman of the GPB Board of Trustees, Vasil Maglaperidze, following today’s meeting with the Parliament Speaker and the Georgian Dream Chair.

Maglaperidze deemed the meeting ‘paramount’, examining the matter in depth.

“We are satisfied as we unconditionally agreed that nothing will threaten the independence of the broadcaster. The existing model may have some flaws in the future, therefore, we agreed that the work will continue to reach the optimal version. The financiers will be involved in the process,” he added.

The Director General of the GPB First Channel, Tinatin Berdzenishvili, and the Chairman of the GPB Board of Trustees, Vasil Maglaperidze, on Sunday, met with the Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, and the Chairman of the Georgian Dream party, Irakli Kobakhidze.
