Parliamentary majority reaches consensus on Georgian Law on Broadcasting, GD's Mdinaradze says

The parliamentary majority has reached a consensus on the Georgian Law on Broadcasting, said Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Chairman of the Georgian Dream (GD) faction, following the parliamentary majority’s Monday session.

Mdinaradze thanked the Head of the Georgian Public Broadcaster’s (GPB) Board of Trustees, Vasil Maglaperidze, and GPB Director General, Tinatin Berdzenishvili, for their “intensive participation in the consultations.”

“Georgian Public Broadcaster will continue to operate at the same budget as this year, enabling them to complete a very good project – a new building, the entire infrastructure, and fully equip it.

In 2026, a rule will come into effect that will tie the funding of the Public Broadcaster to Georgia’s employment rate.

As for insurance, even if the number of employees drops in the nation (we do not have a forecast, but we need to prepare for theoretical risks too), the GPB budget will not automatically dwindle,” Mdinaradze explained.
