Vakhtang Tsagareli has been appointed Rector of the Kutaisi International University (KIU). He previously served as acting rector and supervised Kutaii University City.

Tsagareli graduated from the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) with a Master’s Degree in Physics.

In 2006-2007, he was in North Carolina and Massachusetts, US. He successfully completed the IT Program of Research Triangle Park and North Carolina University, while in Boston, city of Massachusetts, he completed the Telecommunications and IT express program.

Vakhtang Tsagareli worked as a scientist, researcher and project manager at different international and local organizations such as Geonet, INT Communications, and Huawei.

Since 2017, he has held the post of project manager in the international charity foundation Kartu. He is granted the title of Kutaisi Honorary Citizen. He is married and has three children.
