US Ambassador to Georgia sees will to overcome political crisis

US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan echoed the political crisis in Georgia. She said that both sides are willing to find a solution and continue to speak in good faith about their demands.

Kelly Degnan believes the visit of the European Council President Charles Michel to Georgia was important. The Ambassador added that friends of Georgia are worried and interested in the crisis to be solved. Degnan is convinced that there is a political will needed to overcome the crisis.

“What I have seen is a will to find a solution. These are very complex problems. People have very deep differences. But I have seen from all the parties a will to find a solution and to continue to talk in good faith with each other about what their demands are, what they need in an agreement that everyone can be comfortable with.

And it goes useful for President Michel to come. It shows how concerned and how interested Georgia’s friends are around the world. We’ve seen similar expressions from Congressional representatives, from other friends of Georgia. The time is needed for the parties to come to an agreement, but I believe there is a political will for them to do so,” Kelly Degnan declared.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and opposition politicians have held negotiations at the presidential palace mediated by European Council President Charles Michel on March 1.
