UNM's Tsitlidze: Salome Zourabichvili must clearly call for election boycott; no need for toasts
“In the fight against the regime, we don’t need toasts and formalities. That’s why Salome Zourabichvili must speak clearly to Georgia’s citizens without any beating around the bush—that participating in the so-called elections is unacceptable and means playing by Ivanishvili’s rules,” declared one of the United National Movement’s leaders, Ana Tsitlidze.
“In the fight against the regime, we don’t need toasts and formalities. Georgia’s citizens need clarity and transparency. There is only one path here—there is no alternative route—and this single path to bringing down the regime is non-cooperation with the regime. That’s why Salome Zourabichvili must speak her mind clearly to Georgia’s citizens without any beating around the bush. She should have said that participating in the so-called elections—which is really participating in a special operation—is unacceptable and means playing by Ivanishvili’s rules. She should have said that one of the main ways to increase protest momentum and get even more people out on the streets is an active boycott campaign. This is exactly what I and I’m confident very many Georgian citizens who stood at yesterday’s rally, expected to hear specifically from Salome Zourabichvili,” Ana Tsitlidze declared.
