UNM's Tsitlidze: Rose Revolution was peaceful people's revolution, and October 4 to be exactly same
“This regime will fall peacefully and gently. The Rose Revolution was a peaceful people’s revolution, and October 4 will be exactly the same, a peaceful revolution of the Georgian people,” Ani Tsitlidze, a member of the political council of the Unity-National Movement party (UNM), stated live on GPB First Channel programme “Topic of the Day”.
According to Ani Tsitlidze, the only thing that will bring change to the country is the peaceful revolution of October 4.
“Georgian Dream, by arresting Levan Khabeishvili [UNM member], has itself acknowledged Levan Khabeishvili as the leader of the revolution. We have nothing against this, but the reality is different. The reality is that the organisers of October 4 are Paata Burchuladze and the Rustaveli Avenue movement. Naturally, the UNM will join the peaceful overthrow of this government on October 4. I am involved and will engage in any initiative that participates in overthrowing the Russian regime. I truly cannot tell you the plan. I can tell you that October 4 is 70 per cent an accomplished fact. That 30 per cent, which refers to the peaceful struggle of Georgian citizens to overthrow the regime on October 4, so that this regime will fall peacefully and gently. This is what must happen on October 4,” declared Ani Tsitlidze.
According to Tsitlidze, October 4 will see a revolution similar to the Rose Revolution.
“Just like the Rose Revolution, where not a single person was injured, peacefully and quietly. The Rose Revolution was a peaceful people’s revolution. October 4 will be exactly the same, a peaceful revolution of the Georgian people,” declared Tsitlidze.
Furthermore, as Tsitlidze noted, the riot police are no longer the riot police who used to crack down on citizens.
“Because Khareba [Zviad Kharazishvili, former Head of the Special Tasks Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs] is no longer there, and along with Khareba, those riot police are no longer there either. Consequently, I doubt they even have anyone giving orders in the Interior Ministry. The number of these riot police is not inexhaustible either; we are realistically talking about four to ten thousand people. They should know that, fellows, whatever orders you receive and whatever orders the Russian regime gives you, know that, unlike all other protests where you mercilessly beat Georgian citizens, Georgian citizens have the constitutional right to defend themselves,” declared Tsitlidze.
When asked about their expectations for October 4 and how large-scale a gathering they expect, given that Paata Burchuladze has said he expects 200-300 thousand people, Ani Tsitlidze noted that her expectations are similar.
“My expectations are similar. I call upon Georgian citizens: there are no October 4 elections whatsoever. Elections do not exist in this country; this is a farce and a Russian special operation. The only thing that will bring change to this country is the peaceful revolution of October 4. Nobody should go to polling stations, do not go and do not try to ‘legitimise’ the Russian special operation.
On Rustaveli at 16:00 is the real chance for change. As 200 thousand Georgian citizens stood and defended this country’s freedom, there should not be fewer people on October 4 so that we can end this regime on the very same day. I’m confident this number will be there.
Citizens of Georgia will overthrow the government through a peaceful revolution. After this, Georgian citizens will decide through free, fair elections to whom they want to hand over this government,” declared Ani Tsitlidze.
