UNM's Tsitlidze: If no revolution on October 4, opposition will continue to fight on October 5

“The core issue within a significant segment of the opposition is that many love themselves more than the cause they claim to fight for. Their personal ambitions often take precedence over the goal of defeating the regime,” said Ani Tsitlidze, a member of the United National Movement opposition party.

According to Tsitlidze, during the pre-election period, the opposition’s focus was on the United National Movement, not Ivanishvili.

“Before Levan Khabeishvili was arrested, when the process surrounding October 4 began, I too had many questions about that day. Levan Khabeishvili personally met with almost all figures across the opposition spectrum, at least the majority. Khabeishvili met with Paata Burchuladze, who had direct communication with these people regarding October 4. There was no issue in providing answers in a closed format. But these discussions did not happen because everyone is driven by their own ambitions,” Ana Tsitlidze explained.

She added that a significant turning point has occurred, and if citizens were asked what they expect from October 4, they would speak of revolution.

“I am often asked, if it does not happen on October 4, what will you do on October 5? I will continue to fight on October 5, regardless. We have a real chance that it will happen on October 4, considering many important factors.

Today, when I walk down the street and people stop me, they ask whether there will be a revolution on October 4. They’re coming out for the revolution. I remember a time when the very word ‘revolution’ was taboo for Georgian citizens, and even politicians and opposition figures could not bring themselves to utter it. A turning point has come now, on Rustaveli Avenue, people are calling for revolution. If you stop citizens and ask what they are waiting for on October 4, they will speak about the revolution. This shift has truly happened,” Tsiltidze stated live on PalitraNews on Sunday evening.

“It’s not just about the emphasis; we have not done anything for 13 years. Perhaps that is why it is unlikely to be doable on this day,” Tsitlidze also reflected.
