Irakli Nadiradze, a member of the United National Movement, dismissed allegations of a planned coup during a hearing at the Tbilisi City Court, commenting on the October 4 events near the Presidential Palace.

According to Nadiradze, claims that a large-scale coup was being prepared in the country are part of distorted propaganda. He stated that authorities allege the plot was led by a world-renowned operatic bass, a former Prosecutor General, and other individuals who, he said, had committed no wrongdoing.

“We watched the videos, and in two episodes I clearly state that there was no plan,” Nadiradze said, adding that the State Security Service has failed to present any evidence. “They have not produced a single proof, yet they continue to claim that a major coup was being prepared.”

Nadiradze also rejected accusations that the actions were violent or aimed at seizing power, saying the authorities were attempting to introduce new charges after failing to substantiate earlier claims. He noted that while a fence was damaged, no violence occurred and he did not recall the involvement of special forces.

The opposition politician said there is no evidence linking him to the detained individuals, whom he described as having been arrested without justification. He confirmed that he attended all rallies and plans to continue doing so.
