Nearly 200 wine producers and outlets inspected under national quality control drive between January and July 2026

As part of quality control measures for alcoholic beverages produced in Georgia, relevant departments of the National Wine Agency and international audit firms inspected nearly 200 companies and facilities during the first seven months of the year.

According to the National Wine Agency, the number of violations has decreased compared to previous years, reflecting the effectiveness of the wine quality control regime.

“To enhance the competitiveness of alcoholic beverages produced in Georgia, staff from the National Wine Agency regularly perform quality control checks on Georgian wine and other spirits. During the first seven months of this year, 181 inspection audits were conducted across 41 companies to determine whether samples submitted for certification complied with their designated production batches. Of the 479 samples drawn, violations were detected in 9 samples across 4 companies.

During state inspections, 15 audits were conducted across five companies to verify whether wine production processes met Georgian statutory requirements. No violations were found among the 31 samples collected. In contrast, domestic market monitoring of 79 facilities revealed breaches in 63 samples across 43 companies.

At Economic Clearance Zones, inspections were conducted across 60 companies by international audit firms Bureau Veritas and SGS. Out of 223 samples drawn, non-compliance was found in 11 samples across 7 companies,” the statement released by the National Wine Agency reads.
