UNM's Levan Sanikidze says Georgian government's stance on Keith Kellogg matters
“It is crucial what the Georgian government thinks of Keith Kellogg’s statement,” stated Levan Sanikidze, a member of the United National Movement (UNM).
According to Sanikidze, Georgia’s actions and position are of paramount importance.
“We do not want to sit at the negotiating table merely to voice our stance. When you neglect your own security, you risk erasing your state from the world map, and you should not rule out the possibility that your interests will be disregarded during negotiations,” he said.
Sanikidze emphasized the urgent need for a change in government to ensure that Georgia’s territorial integrity and security are prioritized on the global agenda.
“At any negotiation table where Russia, Ukraine, the U.S., and Moldova are present, Georgia should have an additional seat, with a proper representative—not Irakli Kobakhidze,” Sanikidze asserted.
Sanikidze also pointed out that while Ukraine and Moldova have clearly articulated their positions, Georgia has not, and “this is the key difference,” noting that the Georgian Dream government “takes Russia’s side.”
“For us, integration into NATO and the European Union is not an end in itself but a means to achieve our goals. Unfortunately, the Georgian Dream government dismisses this,” he concluded.
In an interview with ABC News, U.S. special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, discussed the ongoing cease-fire negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. He reconfirmed President Donald Trump’s readiness to negotiate over one of Russia’s conditions, asking Western leaders to pledge in writing that NATO would not expand eastward, saying: “This is not only about Ukraine. We are talking about Georgia and Moldova. We say that we can comprehensively stop the expansion of NATO close to your borders,” he said.
