“All parties united in the Alliance are independently engaged in a campaign in preparation for May 26, which is a significant date for our country, both in the historical contest and for the future,” said Lasha Parulava, a member of the United National Movement (UNM) party.
According to Parulava, the UNM’s activities are public, including for the media.
“The alliance is a unity without uniformity. All parties united in the Alliance are independently engaged in a campaign in preparation for May 26, which is a significant date for our country, both in the historical contest and for the future, since we require democratic transformation, the idea on which our rally is based. Activist activities at metro stations or in public spaces are public, open for the media and released via social media. There is nothing grandiose in that. This is a normal working process.
We had and have a concrete anti-crisis plan. There are three steps to stabilize prices, and this is not only an economic, but an existential problem. High prices on fuel, an increased fee on electricity, and villages need support. We inform our citizens about our plan by distributing information brochures and invite them to the May 26 rally. We have launched our campaign earlier, met our citizens both in Tbilisi and the regions and we will continue doing that after May 26.
I can say with full responsibility that all the UNM’s activities are public, including for the media. This is in our interest. Speculation that we do not invite the media is false. We invite everyone, and we want to ensure that events are covered everywhere with the reality that our citizens are concerned about. Therefore, it is making a storm in a cup. I am convinced that other members of the alliance have the same attitude toward public activity,” he said.
