UNM's Dekanoidze tags McFaul's call on world leaders to urge President Zourabichvili to pardon Saakashvili as vital

The Washington Post published Michael McFaul’s article imploring international leaders not to let Georgia’s ex-president die in custody, Khatia Dekanoidze, a member of the opposition United National Movement (UNM), stated at a news conference on Thursday.

Dekanoidze remarked that the emphasis on Saakashvili’s life and health, as well as pressure on the Georgian government, is intensifying and that the article clearly proves that Mikheil Saakashvili is Putin’s [Russian President] prisoner.

“McFaul appeals to the world community not to let Georgia’s former president die in captivity. The American diplomat cites the medical report issued by Saakashvili’s attorneys on the alleged poisoning and adds the most recent photo from the hospital. He claims Mikheil Saakashvili’s health is in great danger, which delights Putin only,” Khatia Dekanoidze stated.

McFaul’s statement that Biden and world leaders must urge Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili to grant Saakashvili a pardon is vital to a UNM member.
