UNM’s Chair on Lelo’s mandates: It’s time to reflect, end political shows
“Did Lelo secure one mandate or two in Tbilisi? The immorality of this situation is beyond belief. It is high time for Lelo to reflect on the grave mistake it has made, the most significant of all, by becoming a participant in this so-called ‘special operation’,” stated Tina Bokuchava, Chair of the United National Movement (UNM) party.
According to Bokuchava, Lelo should reject mandates rooted in treason and cease taking part in sham, circus-like spectacles.
“It’s time for honesty over empty words and political manoeuvring, over expedient tactics. Securing Tbilisi with one or two mandates? The immorality of it is staggering. I don’t know whether Lelo made this decision independently; they may not need my advice, but they must face reality. Better late than never. It’s never too late for people, including politicians, to acknowledge their mistakes. Society always greets such honesty with generosity and understanding.
Lelo must now recognise the enormity of its error in becoming a participant in this so-called ‘special operation’. They should openly renounce mandates based on treason and cease participating in these sham and circus-like acts.
They should come to Rustaveli and unite. Yes, they might encounter anger or disappointment, as others might expect. We must find pathways towards one another; those outside prisons and those behind bars alike. We need to forge genuine unity, a resistance front that includes society, political prisoners, demonstrators, and protesters. Only then will the regime’s downfall be truly inevitable,” she declared.
