UNM's Bezhashvili: Saakashvili’s call to fight endures, motivating hundreds of thousands to march on October 4
“Five years have passed since Mikheil Saakashvili’s arrest, a step he took at the cost of his personal life and health. He returned to Georgia, locked in Putin’s prison, and in the prison of Ivanishvili’s regime, he called on the nation to fight. That fight continues to this day, and it should serve as additional motivation for hundreds of thousands to come out on October 4 and end the Russian regime,” stated Levan Bezhashvili, one of the leaders of the United National Movement opposition party.
He emphasised that hundreds of thousands of people, capable of steering Georgia towards Europe, must unite and rally on October 4.
“Mikheil Saakashvili risked his life and health to return to Georgia, enduring Putin’s prison and Ivanishvili’s regime, to call on the public to fight, a struggle that continues to this day. Today marks five years since Saakashvili’s arrest. This date should serve as further impetus and motivation for October 4, so the Georgian people can unite and finally end the Russian regime that Ivanishvili established here.
October 1 also commemorates the 13th anniversary of Russia’s military operation in Georgia. I remind the public of Putin’s statement that what Russia failed to achieve during the 2008 war, the Georgian people could accomplish, with a plan that has since been confirmed year after year. This is a quote from Putin’s statement, and unfortunately, people led by Ivanishvili have appeared in Georgia, implementing this plan. Initially hidden, this plan has been confirmed year after year, and today there is no longer any doubt, inside or outside the country, that Russians effectively run Georgia. This should be yet another reason for the people to rally on October 4, for hundreds of thousands to help steer the country towards Europe and celebrate the victory of the people,” Levan Bezhashvili has stated.
