UNM: Georgian Dream procrastinates single-party parliament legitimation
The ruling Georgian Dream party procrastinates the legitimation of the single-party parliament, said UNM member Zaal Udumashvili.
Udumashvili said the UNM anticipated the ruling team to abstain from mandate termination following the President’s statement on February 1. President addressed the ruling Georgian Dream party and the opposition and claimed that the parties need to listen to each other and work together to reach the country’s ambitious goals.
“The decision, however, will not change our plans. Lengthening the process will make sense only if the ruling party agrees to call new elections,” Zaal Udumashvili stated.
The parliamentary majority abstained from revoking the mandates of opposition MPs. Most of the opposition parties, who secured their seats through the October 31 parliamentary election, applied for authority termination in a boycott of the election results.
