UNM leadership meets Rep. Steve Cohen, amidst advocacy for Georgia’s democratic path
Tina Bokuchava, Chair of the Unity-National Movement (UNM) party, Petre Tsiskarishvili, the party’s General Secretary, and Nikoloz Saakashvili, the younger son of the imprisoned former President Mikheil Saakashvili, met with Congressman Steve Cohen during their trip to the United States.
The UNM representatives are engaged in high-level discussions with Congressional members and Senators to support the swift passage of the MEGOBARI Act in the U.S. Senate.
“The MEGOBARI Act will soon be submitted to President Donald Trump for signature. We remain hopeful that he will sign it, leading to its enactment with personal sanctions against Ivanishvili and his associates. Instead of the MEGOBARI Act delivering tangible benefits, the United States is compelled to impose sanctions on Ivanishvili and Russian influences operating in Georgia.
This situation must change. We are confident that through joint efforts, we will succeed in steering Georgia back onto its rightful path—pro-Western, pro-American, and pro-European. All doors will open for Georgia to become a full-fledged, successful, and proud member of the free and civilised world,” stated Tina Bokuchava.
The UNM representatives, including party leaders and Nikoloz Saakashvili, arrived in the United States following the passage of the MEGOBARI Act by the U.S. House of Representatives.
