UNM Chair urges detainees to speak fully about October 4; half-truths cannot defeat regime

“The events at the Presidential Residence have raised many questions. I hope Murtaz (Zodelava, a member of the October 4 rally organisation committee) and other detainees will not confine themselves to hints. A Russian-style dictatorship cannot be defeated through half-truths,” said Tina Bokuchava, Chair of the United National Movement (UNM).

According to Bokuchava, honesty in politics is essential for achieving victory.

“The developments at the Presidential Residence on October 4, along with Murtaz Zodelava’s remarks, have sparked numerous questions. I sincerely hope Murtaz and the other detainees will not stick to hints only. The Russian FSB [Federal Security Service] and its regime, which resembles a Russian-style dictatorship, cannot be overthrown with half-truths. I understand they are in a difficult situation, and we stand in solidarity with them, but they must tell the full truth. I trust that we will gain valuable insights, including from the hints we’ve heard about possible interference by the State Security Service,” she stated.

When asked whether she believed treason was involved in the events of October 4, Bokuchava replied: “I don’t know; I will not speculate.”
