UNM Chair urges Britain to accelerate sanctions against GD founder and his associates

Tina Bokuchava, Chair of the United National Movement (UNM), held discussions at the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, according to the party’s press service.

Bokuchava emphasised that the United Kingdom should expedite sanctions against Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party, to facilitate Georgia’s return to its European development trajectory.

“I pointed out that sanctions should target Bidzina Ivanishvili, his associates, the financial elite, and propagandists. British sanctions carry particular significance, given Ivanishvili’s assets in the UK and offshore jurisdictions. Accelerating British sanctions is a top priority.

We also discussed the Weimar+ cooperation format, where the United States, Germany, Poland, and France should intensify efforts and coordination to effectively pressure the autocratic regime, thereby enabling Georgian citizens to return to their European path,” she stated.
