UNM Chair claims parties running in local elections ignoring key demands to face Georgian people's wrath

“I sincerely hope the opposition will make a united decision regarding the upcoming local elections,” stated Tina Bokuchava, leader of the Unity-National Movement.

She emphasized that any party seeking to participate in the local elections without meeting two fundamental requirements would face a harsh verdict from the Georgian people.

“There is a deep division within the Russian Dream, a long list of individuals desperately trying to escape the grip of Ivanishvili’s malign influence. For many, the greatest threat is the possibility of never setting foot in the free world—be it the United States or European Union countries—and certainly not having their children study at institutions like the University of Pennsylvania, in California, or in EU member states. This looming danger is their primary concern. It has caused a serious rift within the Russian Dream itself.

Amidst this turmoil, propaganda seeks to distort reality—confusing truth with lies, twisting facts, and presenting falsehoods as truths. Instead of acknowledging the existing divisions within the GD, propaganda attempts to portray a united opposition where none exists.

I sincerely hope the opposition will ultimately come together and make a unified decision regarding the upcoming self-government elections. If they fail to do so, any party that chooses to participate in the local elections without fulfilling two fundamental demands—namely, the release of all political prisoners and the scheduling of new, free, democratic parliamentary elections—will face a harsh judgment from the Georgian people. These people have been fighting selflessly for our country’s European future for so many months, and they will not accept actions that undermine that struggle,” said Tina Bokuchava.
