“I am in Washington at President Trump’s inauguration at the invitation of the Republicans. Many events are being held in parallel. I came for just two days. Most importantly, there is amazing support for the Georgian people, especially after the unprecedented scale of protests in Georgia,” stated Giorgi Vashadze, one of the leaders of the Unity-National Movement coalition, in a video address.

According to Giorgi Vashadze, he is confident that “the self-proclaimed regime will have no choice but to call new elections.”

“Everyone sees that we are fighting together for a democratic, strong Georgia that will be a worthy member of European and Euro-Atlantic space. There is consensus – I haven’t seen a single person who has a different opinion that Ivanishvili’s regime cannot be recognized, that everything must be done so that the Georgian people can regain power as soon as possible, and we can return Georgia to the path of democratic development. For this, it is essential to free political prisoners and hold new elections, which will lay the foundation for Georgia’s liberation from Ivanishvili’s regime, after which strategic partnership with America will be restored, deepened further, with more economic investment cooperation and most importantly, greater friendship with our greatest partner – the USA.

So, Ivanishvili’s and Georgian Dream’s myth that something would change favourably for them after January 20 has ended, will end once and for all. I am convinced that this self-proclaimed regime will have no alternative but to call new elections. Strength is in unity and we will definitely win,” stated Giorgi Vashadze.
