“We continue to support your Euro-Atlantic aspirations. Strong and united NATO is vital for our security in Europe and beyond,” said UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly at the joint briefing with Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili.
The British official stressed that the UK valued Georgia’s “generous and principal support” to the “mutual friend” Ukraine.
“We strongly welcome Georgia’s generous and principal support for our mutual friends in Ukraine both in acting sanctions and welcoming so many Ukrainian refugees who were forced to leave their homes and the country because of Russia’s aggression.
Just as in Ukraine, the sovereign rights of the Georgian people to determine their own future and destiny, independent of external interference, must be respected and defended.
That is why we are working closely with you to strengthen your resilience to Russian interference, and that is why we continue to support your Euro-Atlantic aspirations. Strong and united NATO is vital for our security in Europe and beyond,” he said.
