UK introduces Transit Visa regime for Georgian citizens

Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the United Kingdom has strengthened its border controls and introduced a visa requirement for Georgian citizens during transit at the airport.

This requirement, known as a Direct Airside Transit Visa (DATV), applies when a person is travelling to a third country, transiting through the UK, and does not go through border checks.

The UK introduced a transit visa regime with more than 100 countries, including Moldova, Ukraine, Turkey, North Macedonia, South Africa, China, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Montenegro, Bosnia, and others, due to its strict immigration policy.

This means that travellers from these countries will need to obtain a DATV if they are transiting through a UK airport without passing through UK border control.
