Police detain two at rally near Parliament as MPs investigate actions of 2003-2012 government
Law enforcement officers detained two individuals at a protest near the Georgian Parliament.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the detainees were charged under Article 173 of the Administrative Offenses Code for disobeying a lawful police order.
The rally was held as the Parliamentary Investigative Commission on the Activities of the Regime and Its Political Officials in 2003-2012 conducted a session.
Demonstrators claimed the commission was putting the Georgian army on trial, which they found unacceptable.
At today’s session of the investigative commission questioned Mamuka Kurashvili, former Head of the Peacekeeping Operations Headquarters (2008), Goga Khaindrava, former State Minister (2004-2006), and Gia Volski, First Vice-Speaker of Parliament and former Deputy State Minister (2004-2006).
