Two arrested in Tbilisi for assaulting three Polish citizens; MIA releases footage of clash [Video]
Through operational and investigative efforts, officers from the Old Tbilisi Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department, under the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), have detained two individuals identified as S.J., born in 2004, and E.G., born in 1985, both of whom have prior convictions for serious crimes, on charges of assaulting two or more individuals. Law enforcement officers apprehended E.G. and S.J. as they attempted to flee.
The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports that the investigation has established that, driven by a mutual dispute, the detainees assaulted three Polish citizens with various injuries near a restaurant in Tbilisi. During the altercation, one of the defendants, E.G., reportedly attacked the victims using a blunt object.
“Following the incident, the suspects fled the scene. The injured foreign nationals were transported to a medical facility for treatment,” the MIA added.
Due to significant public interest, the Ministry of Internal Affairs made public footage capturing a confrontation between Polish and Georgian citizens near a restaurant in Tbilisi.
“The investigation into the incident continues under Part 1 of Article 126 of the Criminal Code of Georgia,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.
