Tsotne Koberidze, Badri Grigalashvili and Boris Chele Kurua have quit the “Girchi – More Freedom” opposition party.

Koberidze said: “I don’t believe in a formula for victory whose main weapon is Salome Zurabishvili – a president brought in through the worst elections by Bidzina Ivanishvili.”

“I joined the party when almost no one had heard its name, but I loved it because it had the ambition to change the entire political spectrum, to present new people, new ideas, new forms of politics. Today, however, I feel that what we are doing is no longer new – everything is the same. I don’t believe that change can come through sameness.

I don’t believe that a grand opposition unification will work out. I don’t believe we have a chance of victory without changing the political spectrum, attitudes, actors, and environment.

I don’t believe that the votes received by the opposition in the 2024 parliamentary elections will be enough, and that we won’t need to work anymore after that.

I don’t believe that anything will work out without acknowledging mistakes, without apologizing.

I apologize for enthusiastically congratulating you on the election results and then seeing different results 15 minutes later.

I apologize for not appearing publicly and not speaking after the elections.

I apologize for thinking that not telling lies was enough, but I believe this country has a future. We will not become Russia,” Tsotne Koberidze posted on Facebook.

As Badri Grigalashvili noted, he no longer sees “the point of being in politics in this form and with this content.” “I now have to find my path of struggle again and, as much as I can, I will try to correct the mistakes I’ve seen.”

Boris Chele Kurua also explained that political paths ‘diverged’ and he ‘had to make’ this decision. “This process requires identifying and solving problems. Russia will never be in Georgia again, but changes are as important as air, and we can’t make them until we first alter ourselves and stop doing the same things. I will reveal more about the plans shortly.”
