Teona Akubardia quits cooperation with Gakharia for Georgia party, to continue fight independently
Teona Akubardia quit cooperation with the Gakharia for Georgia party and will continue the political fight independently.
Akubardia announced her decision on Facebook.
“I am sharing my decision to independently continue the fight for the protection of Georgia’s national interests, for which I engaged in politics in 2020. I was on the party list of the Galharia for Georgia party for the 2024 parliamentary elections as an independent member and worked for the country’s sovereignty and security interests.
I, as our 12 co-mates, refused to give legitimacy to Ivanishvili’s single-party parliament following unfair and non-free elections.
Naturally, I was and remain in opposition to the regime’s reversal of the country’s domestic and foreign course and mass repressions. The opposition’s mistakes are actual today, and much can be said about this. However, the main mistake is not the refusal to take seats in the parliament but the lack of a joint vision over the common goal and conflict when the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity are jeopardized.
I strongly believe that the country’s return to the Constitutional path is impossible without new, free and fair elections and the release of political prisoners. Therefore, I will continue to fight within my capabilities for the goal called a united European Georgia. I extend my gratitude to everyone who supported me in fighting for this goal. I believe that we will ultimately win,” she said.
