Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Ministerial candidate, outlined his vision for the country’s airport infrastructure during a plenary session of Parliament.

He emphasized the growing importance of tourism and its direct link to airport development, highlighting plans for significant expansion at both Tbilisi and Kutaisi international airports.

Kobakhidze shared that the construction of a new Tbilisi International Airport in Vaziani will increase passenger capacity from 4 million to 18 million annually. He assured that the mega-project would be completed on schedule. Additionally, the expansion of Kutaisi International Airport is already underway, with the goal of boosting its current 1.7 million passengers to 5 million.

Kobakhidze also addressed the strategic significance of the Black Sea power cable project, set for completion by 2030. The project, which will facilitate both electricity and internet transit, will enable Georgia to directly supply electricity to European Union countries, marking a major step in the country’s regional connectivity.
